Blinded by Their Dislike of Trump, the Reform Movement Miscalculated Badly on Jerusalem
In initially rejecting Trump's recognition of Jerusalem, a move celebrated by a consensus of Israelis from right to left, the American Reform Movement let their dislike of Trump further alienate them from an Israeli society they wish to win over. Just as they were offended by the Israeli government abandoning the Kotel sharing compromise agreement, so too were Israelis offended by this initial reaction (which was corrected a day later). American Reform Jews, if they wish to gain greater recognition and rights in Israel, must examine their priorities and where Israel fits on that list.
