A bird in the hand: Securing an acceptable Iran deal in the long run

On the eve of the expected nuclear agreement between the US led P5+1 and Iran, I claim that while it is too late to achieve a "good deal" since Washington lacks the resolve, it is still possible to achieve an "acceptable" deal. The hard part will be to uphold this in the long run, and will require maintaining sanctions until Iran proves compliance; ensuring verification through aggressive intelligence; developing now a multi-layered snap-back mechanism to bring back sanctions should Iran be caught cheating; rebuild a credible military deterrence, whether American or Israeli; and rebuild US-Israel relations.
